Chainsaw carving creations - Heartfelt Wooden Sculptures

Artist profile

Hi my name is Deborah Lloyd and I have been Chainsaw carving for about 16 years. I love carving animals and create the emotion of that animal in wood, so we can connect to them more easily through the feel of wood. Born in NZ (Wanganui) I entered into the service of the railways as a Fitter Turner Machinist, and five years gaining my trade certificate qualification.  Here I discovered my artistic talents by creating things out of nuts, and bolts and bits of scap metal, though even during my child hood days I found myself drawn to sculpture, wether it by clay, metal or wood.

As a mother of two and a desire to work with a new source of material I moved to Rotorua, an area renowned for it's source of timber and ventured into the art of chainsaw carving.

Over the past 10 years I have honed my skills at competitions around New Zealand and Australia.  My acheivements in this unusal field of art have earned me placing's at various events including first place at 2004, 2006 Mystery creek National Feild days.  I have also won two events in Kaitia New Zealand and also in Australia gaining first place.  My carvings cover a range of subjects from childrens TV characters to animals and birds in various stances.  I also sculpt from photo's, drawings, head and shoulder sittings.

I love my art work and always put my heart into it.
